Mr. Lucas the actor

June 1, 2018

I’ve told the kids I’m going to be in a play. It’s called The Victory and it is set in Warsaw in 1939. I play a railroad man named Red. (That’s me in the middle.)

Performances are this weekend at the Lakeview Middle School in Warsaw. Friday and Saturday at 7:30 and Sunday at 2.

The show is family friendly, but there are a couple minor swear words and a murder and pregnancy are talked about.

If you attend, be sure to say hi to me after the show!

Family Picnic Day is Monday

Everyone is invited to come join us for lunch on our annual SES Family Picnic Day.  Come, bring a beach blanket, get lunch and find a spot on campus to enjoy your meal.  Second grade lunch is at 11:45 a.m.

We’ve tested over graphing and data this week.  Next week, we’ll just be doing some review and fun math activities to help round our our year.

Our final unit is writing is poetry.  I’ve been teaching the kids about writing a type of poetry called Free Verse.  Free verse is fun to write because you don’t have to worry about rhymes.  Free verse is more about images and thoughts and imagination.  The kids have jumped right in and they have written some great poems already!

Want to join us on our Walking Field Trip to Lakeside Park on May 29?  Let me know.

NWEA Testing – Great Results!

We now have our official results from our spring NWEA testing.  The students did GREAT!  I’m proud of the growth the kids showed in their learning and they have worked hard this year.  Awesome job, everyone! I will be sending home the NWEA results with the final report card at the end of the year.

Field Trip tomorrow – Pack a Lunch!

May 16, 2018

We’ll be taking our field trip to Healthworks tomorrow. Students need to pack a disposable lunch so they can throw everything away when they are done. Also, dress for the weather since we’ll be eating in the park. Hopefully, the weather should be pretty nice.
