Newsletter and Spelling list for October 3-7

September 30, 2011

Mr. Lucas Newsletter

Fri., Sept. 30, 2011

Readers Workshop

This week we discovered that digraphs are two letters, that work together to make one sound. One example is using the “ch” sound as in chicken. We also began to read in small groups.

Parent-Teacher Conferences – Thursday

Thursday night will be our first round of Parent-Teacher conferences for the year. I plan on meeting with half the class this time and then the other half the next time in January. If your child didn’t bring a paper home requesting a time, then I will meet with you later.

Mid-Term grades will go home next Friday.

Box Tops!

Don’t forget to keep sending in those box tops! We’re trying to be the class who collects the most in the grade level.

Next week’s list is on the back of this newsletter.

Bottles Still Needed for Class Project

We could still use more 20 ounce size bottles, like water bottles or pop bottles (rinsed out) for a Warrior Buddies project.

Field Trip – On Tuesday
Pack a Lunch!

We will be going to the Koinonia Nature Center south of Pierceton. We will be outdoors for most of the day, so please make sure your child is dressed for the weather. The kids will also need to pack their own lunches, in disposable, throwaway containers.

Snacks Needed

We could use donations for our class snack cupboard. Pretzels, graham crackers, cereal, etc. would work great. Thanks!
