Moon Phases Observation Bonus Assignment

October 8, 2013

We have been learning about the phases of the moon this week. In order to continue our learning, students have the chance to observe the moon and draw what they see.  They get to be scientists.

Students have a “Moon Calendar” sheet. I’m asking students to do at least 3 observations each week (find the moon in the sky).  They are to look at the moon and draw what they see.  Then write down the time. If the sky is cloudy, then just write “cloudy” on the observation page.  The weather might not cooperate with us 🙂  Sometimes the best time to see the moon might be morning instead of evening.  Try both.

This is an optional assignment that students can return to me Wednesday, October 23.  Students who do the assignment will get a small reward.

If students need a new copy of the assignment page, you can download it here:  moon observation assignment
