Readers Workshop
This week in Reader’s Workshop we started learning about asking questions when we read. Asking questions is a great way for a reader to think about what he or she is reading and what he or she understands. It is also a great way to think about what else they might want to learn about.
Math
We have wrapped up learning about place value. Soon we will start a big unit in second grade math: double digit addition. This is a big, important skill. Please make sure you are helping your student with their homework each night and checking their work to help them with their understanding.
Field Trip Tuesday
Pack a Lunch, Be Ready to Be Outside
Our field trip to Koinonia is this coming Tuesday, Oct. 14. This is an all-day trip and we will be outside for most of the day, so please have your student dress for the weather. Also, please remember to send a disposable sack lunch, too. Thanks!
Moon Observations
This week we started learning about the phases of the moon. To go along with this, the students have an opportunity to be scientists and observe the moon. They brought home a Moon Calendar on Wednesday. This is a bonus assignment, and students returning it on October 22 will get a small reward.
Upcoming Dates to Remember
