Newsletter – Week of October 19-21
Mr. Lucas Newsletter
Fri., Oct. 16, 2015
This week in Reader’s Workshop we started talking and thinking about the characters in stories. We talked about character “traits”. Traits are the characteristics of a character, like the way a character looks, acts, thinks and feels.
This week we have started on a big unit in second grade math: double digit addition. This is a big, important skill. We teach the kids to “regroup” the ten (which is what some of us called “carrying the one” when we were in school). Please make sure you are helping your student with their homework each night and checking their work to help them with their understanding. We will be working on 2-digit addition for the next couple of weeks.
