Report Cards Go Home Today
Report cards are being sent home today. They are in a yellow envelope. Please sign and return the envelope, so I know that you have seen the report card. You may keep any papers that are inside the envelope.
This week we have been talking about determining importance when we read, as well as reading for sequence. Reading for sequence means looking for signal words like “first”, “then”, “next” and “finally”. Such words help the reader keep track of when things happen and in what order.
We are working on double-digit subtraction. This can be a hard skill to master for some students. So we will be practicing it a lot in class.
I have taught them this rhyme to help remember how to regroup:
If there’s more on top, no need to stop.
If there’s more on the floor, then go next door to get ten more.
If the numbers the same, then zero’s the game.
Please help support your student by helping them with their homework to make sure they are getting the concepts there, too.
