I’ve decide to change up how we do homework in our classroom. I will no longer be sending home regular math homework. The students will get math practice in class. Instead, I think the students would be better off having 10 minutes of reading practice time each night. So I’m asking parents to help make sure your student is reading at least 10 minutes every night. The students will have library books they check out each week. These are great for home-reading. With our iPads, there may be other items I can send home for the kids to read, as well. On Monday’s I will send home a weekly reading log for parents to initial when your child has read. Students who return this on Friday will earn an extra Class Dojo point.
Fund Raiser brochures and order forms went home this week. This is a fund-raiser run by our PTO in order to help buy materials and equipment for our school. Our PTO does a fantastic job of making sure that money raised in our fund-raisers comes right back to benefit our school. The fund raiser is optional, you do NOT have to sell anything if you don’t want to. If your student does sell items, the due date for the order forms is Sept. 7.
