Word Work

Several times a week we will be doing word work in class.  The students are in different groups based on what skills they need to work on.  The students will be working with word patterns by sorting words, writing words and practicing their word list on Spelling City on the iPad.  Each week we’ll work on a different list of words, which your student should be able to show you in the Spelling City app on their iPad.  Every two weeks (or every two lists), we’ll have a word list test.  I’ll pick 10 words from the 2 weeks of lists we have practiced and the students will be asked to spell those words.  Students will also be asked to write simple sentences I give them using the list words and I will be looking for capital letters and end marks on those sentences.  This will be for their Word Work grade.

Field Trip – Oct. 9

On October 9, we will be taking a half-day field trip with the Wawasee Area Conservancy Foundation, just south of Syracuse.  We could use parents for this trip.  Our class will either be going in the morning, or after lunch.  If parents are interested in going, they must have a background check filled in at the school each year.
